Yamazakura 16 Year Old

Yamazakura 16 Year Old is a very limited release from Japenese distillers Sasanokawa Shuzo. Composed of 20% malted barley and 80% corn, this expression is matured in Bourbon barrels for 16 years before being transferred to specific tanks and then finally finished in Bourbon casks for a few months.The nose is sweet and smooth with aspects of vanilla, cedar, fruitcake and citrus. The palate is fluid and subtle with notes of toast, coconut, fig, pear and a hint of liquorice. The finish is lingering and elegant with orange marmalade, sweet spices and woody elements revealed.
